Cosmetic Grade Petroleum Jelly

White jelly, Vaseline jelly or petrolatum is a semi-solid hydrocarbon C15H15N, chemical name 1,1,2-Trimethylbenzeindole. It is translucent in appearance (colour varies from yellowish to amber or white), and is derived from petroleum and principally finds its application in medicine and pharmacy where it is used as a protective dressing.

From the industrial point of view, it finds application in many types of polishes and in lubricating greases, rust preventives and modelling clay.

Extraction procedure

Vaseline jelly is manufactured from the semi-solid residue that remains after steam/vacuum distillation (distillation performed under reduced pressure) of petroleum. After the distillation, the residue is dewaxed and blended with stocks from other sources (along with lighter fractions), to obtain a product with the desired consistency. For the final purification, a combination of high-pressure hydrogenation and sulfuric acid treatment followed by filtration through absorbents.

Classification on the basis of use

White jelly can be broadly categorized into three categories on the basis of application-

• Industrial grade petroleum jelly
  

• Cosmetic grade white jelly
  

• Pharmaceutical grade petroleum jelly

Cosmetic grade white jelly

• The cosmetic grade white jelly (or snow-white petroleum jelly) is recognized by US Food and Drug Administration as an approved skin protectant which is the reason why it is widely used in cosmetic/skin-care applications. The white jelly manufactured here at DANA, confirms with all IP, USP and BP standards.

Uses of Cosmetic grade white jelly
The most common use of cosmetic grade snow-white jelly is as listed below-

• Petrolatum is used as an ingredient in skin lotion and cosmetics; it provides skincare and protection by reducing moisture loss.
  
• It can also be used as hair gel; in fact, its mixture with beeswax makes an effective moustache wax.
  
• Cosmetic grade jelly can be used to reduce friction between skin and clothing during various sports activities, which means it is an effective skin lubricant.
  
• Petrolatum is also used in the formulation of various personal care preparations like hair conditioners, lip balms and sun care products.

DANA Group is headquartered in Deira Dubai (10 Kms away from International Airport) and is having modern and well equipped production plant / Factory with automated filling machine for automotive lubricant engine oils and industrial oils of 8 nozzles and 4 nozzles, Auto cap rotator auto sealer, Auto Printing machine, Auto Carton packing machine. Two semi automated cranes and four forklifts are available for movement of goods, filled engine oil metal drums , oil filled cartons of all sizes 1L X 12 Carton, 3L X 6 Carton, 4L X 6 Carton, 5L X 6 Carton, 6L X 4 Carton, 4 L X 4 Carton, 3L X 4 Carton within factory. Fleet of vehicles and trucks is available for transportation and loading of goods safely in the containers of sizes 20 feet and 40 feet.

Lubricantes Engine Oil is filled only after engine oil passes all bench tests and quality tests.
