Paraffin is a mixture of hydrocarbons extracted from certain distillates of petroleum, shale oil or other bituminous mineral oils. The main component is solid alkanes, odorless and tasteless, white or light yellow translucent solid.

According to the physical state of paraffin, it can be divided into three categories: liquid paraffin, solid paraffin and microcrystalline wax.

Paraffin has many advantages such as low price, wide source, colorless and odorless, stable physical and chemical properties, and large phase change latent heat.
